Presentation to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance Pre-Budget Consultation
Description:
November 5, 2009, Dr. Jose Pereira and Sharon Baxter presented to the House of Commons, Standing Committee on Finance for the pre-budget consultation around hospice palliative care. The presentation went very well and the committee had many questions. Some questions were around euthanasia and assisted suicide that were handled well. The point to be made is that euthanasia and assisted suicide is not and never will be a part of hospice palliative care. This was followed by a positive discussion around the real issue of access to hospice palliative care. To read the submission, refer to attached document prepared by Michael Aherne and the Pallium Foundation with the Canadian Society of Palliative Care.
